Overview
This CE activity focuses on equipping pharmacists with essential knowledge and skills in the dispensing of compounded ketamine and GLP-1 medications, preparations used for a variety of indications. The activity delves into the legal obligations, diversion concerns, dosing limits, dosage forms, documentation requirements, patient education, and constructive transfer protocols. Participants will also explore the basics of compounding a drug that is essentially a copy of a commercially available medication when that drug is in shortage.

- Examine the documentation requirements for the compounding and dispensing process of ketamine, in accordance with regulatory standards and best practices, to foster comprehension of accountability and traceability principles.
- Review the legal obligations of pharmacists regarding controlled substances, including DEA and state regulations, and their implications for dispensing practices.
- Recognize the importance of implementing effective strategies for identifying signs of misuse or diversion through the utilization of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs) and thorough patient and prescriber verification processes.
- Recall FDA guidance on when a pharmacy can compound a drug that is "essentially a copy" of a FDA approved drug product, focusing on its implications for compounding of GLP-1 drugs listed on the FDA drug shortage list.
- Assess the considerations and challenges associated with compounding GLP-1 drugs listed on the FDA drug shortage list, including formulation adjustments, sourcing of ingredients, and maintaining quality assurance measures.

Tenille Davis is a seasoned advocate and leader in the field of pharmacy compounding, currently serving as the Chief Advocacy Officer for the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding.
Prior to her current position, Tenille spent 16 years at Civic Center Pharmacy, where she honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of pharmacy operations. Dr. Davis is also a Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist, a Fellow of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding, and a member of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.

- Complete a learning assessment (minimum 80% passing grade, two attempts permitted) within 30 days.
- Submit a completed live event evaluation form online within 30 days.
When the aforementioned steps have been completed and approved:
- Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians registered in the United States will obtain a statement of completed credits on their NABP e-Profile within 60 days.
- Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians registered elsewhere will receive an automated email from LP3 Network advising that they can download a statement of participation.
- All participants will receive an automated email from LP3 Network advising that they can download the LP3 Network certificate of completion.
