Professional Development Modules

Return to the Professional Development Program Main Page

Program Format

Home Study (Knowledge-based; 15 hour) prerequisite reading modules that review all fundamental skills and strategies to hone your compounding practice. Each of the 15 Home Study modules conclude with a competency assessment. It also prepares the learner for highly interactive and pre-established in-pharmacy presentations and discussions.

Group Leader facilitated orientations and discussions are supported by sets of instructions and pre-established presentation slides.

Instructional Design

The program features a series of professional development modules with competency assessments in non-hazardous and hazardous drug non-sterile compounding intended to train Compounding Personnel on standards of practice. Further, these modules heighten the Compounding Personnel’s awareness of methods for deployment, which may lead to potential reviews of the compounding practice’s SOPs/P&Ps. As many standards of practice are similar, if not the same, across borders, the program takes a Universal approach in its presentation of information and differentiates between countries, where appropriate.

Each professional development module scheduled over a one-year period, or less, is managed by an assigned Lead Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician within the compounding practice. The Leadership and Learning program provides the necessary skill set for a designated person to fulfill this role. To ensure the program’s success and provide opportunity for meaningful practice change, this blended learning opportunity provides non-accredited, module-specific and Leader facilitated orientations and discussions, thereby, fostering a culture of quality in the compounding practice.
